Build Date

I had a bit of a look round the engine bay this weekend, trying to find the illusive stamp that reveals the birthdate of my car.
Suffice to say, I didn't find it.

Where should I be looking and has anyone got a pic? :D

Or if not, take out things like the ashtray and look underneath it; theres usually a manufacturing date stamp on most car plastics that, with modern JIT manufacturing, is usually pretty close to the date of your car.

I have a Mar 09 plate car, just found the build date, Aug 08, gutted my car is dead old now lol

when did they stop making them?

Ironically, August 08, meaning your car is a new as possible. :)

'Coupes, Worldwide: 4,275, North America: 1,815'

where did you get these figures?

The figures only apply to the Ms, but the numbers are from an article in BMW Car magazine, coincidentally an article about the last Z4 coming off the production line. It's the November 2008 issue, pp 9. The North American numbers are from the Wildag File, a spreadsheet listing every Z4M sold in North America's VIN and options, downloaded from the BMWTIS (BMW Technical Information Service).
