Broken Xenon Headlight

Help,

I have a z4 coupe 2006 (facelift headlights)

Water damage has killed the control unit in my driverside headlight, I've had the garage take a look and at the end of the day more of the parts might be damaged so they have said a new headlight is needed....

This is around £750 new + fitting

I've been searching for a used one but even struggling to find one from the scrappage companies and eBay.

Also been looking at aftermarket ones but they all seem to say "won't fit in e86 with factory fitted xenons"

Any advice or ideas...

There isn’t a aftermarket Xenon. Only halogen. So that’s out the window.

Garage may well say that... it’s only the ballast that’s actually damaged? From the sounds of your post. And you have a working ballast in the other light? Swap it over and test it out? Bit of trouble shooting may save you getting a whole new headlight. Which is hard at the best of times... since yours is Facelift the xenon will be even more sought after. Then you have black lights and sliver ones... so will be a struggle getting a match.

If the ballast swap doesn’t work then my plan would be to get a pair of matching lights. That way the condition and colour will be the same.
