Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or whether we are a one-off.
2004 3.0 Z4 Roadster
The car went in for a new bonnet alarm sensor (sporadic self activation) and came back with the left hand (facing the windscreen) mount for the strut snapped (the steel bracket that is spot welded to the top of the shock absorber turret).
I reckon that they released the top nut next to get to the sensor and then bent the strut back to fit the new sensor and in doing so snapped the bracket - they are, of course, denying it but have agreed for it to be fixed under a the Approved Used warranty still on the car. Inconvenient for us as the car has to go 30 miles to a body shop and we'll be without for a few days.
Finally, this strut is now in the boot awaiting the repair. Is there any danger driving the car on normal roads at normal speeds with this temporarily removed?
