Hi all-took car to stealer for an oil service, they found my rear o/s spring snapped, but luckily they contacted BMW who agreed to do it free as a goodwill gesture for my car being low miles -ah well i will add my name to the list
I too have a spare in the garage, my first one went at only 14k and the dealer wasn't too interested. It was out of warrently and that was that! (make note to self, find new dealer! )
Its simple enough to replace the rears, Having a mate on hand is helpful, I replaced mine with non OEM ones before i then replaced the lot with Eibachs, I tried to sell my NON OEM ones on here but no one wanted them because they were not OEM. must be because the OEM are so brilliant :? :? :?
As long as the other side is ok I don't see why not, I replaced both of mine coz they both snapped, However as you would have one new and one old the car might sit slighty askew until the new one settles down.
BMW replaced both of mine last week, they told me they should always be replaced in pairs. A warranty job but it does make some sense from a handling consistency perspective.
