Broken Spring? Repair cost

I've only had my car a couple of months, still in the honeymoon period.

Just recently though I've noticed at slow speeds my front drivers side suspension creaks when I'm going over speed bumps.

I'm guessing I've probably got myself a broken spring? Or could it be something else?

Was just wondering how much they cost to get fixed at the garage before taking it.

Main dealer about £200 a spring (fitted) probably £150 at an Indy

You can easily tell if you've got a broken spring as it you can move it with your hand.
 
Lowering may not be what you're looking for but a set of Eibach's all round isn't far off the cost of a spring from dealers. I've also never heard of these snapping!
I have 3 original springs if these are any good to you (M Sport) - guess what happened to the other one though!
 
Thanks Scooba. I'm going to take it back to the dealer and try and get them to sort it for free. If it is the spring and I have no luck, might look at a set of Eibachs
 
The broken springs is a common problem to the Z4's. Replacement yourself is not that difficult. There are a number of how to videos on YouTube.

Well I'm proper baffled.

The creak on the suspension has been happening for at least the last two weeks. The estate I live on has speed bumps, so it's the first thing I notice when I get in the car and also the last when I get home.

It's been really noticeable. I'm not making it up, even passengers have passed comment.

Took the afternoon off work to take it back to the garage where i bought it. They said bring it in and they'd try and diagnose it (they outsource the repairs).

So I drove over and thought before I go into the garage I'd go and find some nearby speed bumps, so I know which route to drive before the salesman got in the car.

Found some, and no creak! Found some more and still no creak?!

I couldn't believe it. It's been creaking loud for the last 2 weeks.

I didn't want to lose face so I never went into the garage today.

I convinced myself it must be different style of speed bumps to the ones on my estate.

Got home, and no creak!

I've no idea what it is or what it was, and how it managed to fix itself?

Promise you I'm not mad
 
Fear not - this is exactly the kind of problem you want - a self-fixing one! :D
At least it sounds like the garage will entertain your request if and when you can replicate the creaking.
