Hello,
Was driving residential neighborhood today in the snow. Spun out and slammed into a curb, taking off my side skirt and damaging my rim. I was able to reattach the side skirt but I’m curious as to advice on what to do with the rim. Thanks
Absolutely. The wheel is for the trash. The tyre also but I would say (and I have said it before) there are no golden rules on tyre life and in the U.K. the test stations no longer give any relevance to date of manufacture. It’s the condition the tyres are in. And this is based on usage, heat cycles and storage. I have several set of 15 year old tyres and they are perfectly soft and usable. I wouldn’t necessarily use them on the track but for road use they are fine. However tyres used and kept in harsh conditions could easily be scrap in 4 years. I had two such tyres on my z when I bought it.
This looks like a 16in star alloy. There are some on ebay right now for £35.99. Really cheap as everyone wants big wheels. I'm on 16in stars and got a couple of spares from ebay. Condition was pretty good.
