Broken Rear Springs

Had a bit of a knocking noise from the offside rear for a week so got it into a garage which was recommended by a friend, first time having anything done on the Z. I have no space to do work myself, or knowledge, or tools! Quick check and both rear springs broken, I can already see the pound signs going up. Just been to collect it and I was very surprised, £200.04 for parts, labour and VAT.

Now I'm not particularly experienced with getting work done, but to me, that seems like a pretty fair price. Anyone able to back me up/shatter my illusion?

So how do you know both are broken, seems a very rare occurrence on the E89.
Weird that Realoem doesn't list a part number for that spring.
Knocking on my car was fixed by rotating the right barrel spring 90 anti clockwise as seen from above.

I could not find the springs for my 35IS on their either, What I do know is the only place I could get the springs was BMW. Which is what made me ask OP what springs had been fitted to his car, definitely worth checking......

Looks like Sachs do barrel springs, £50 each.
So £200 all in not a bad price as takes about 10 minutes to remove and replace once you know what you are doing with a ramp and spring compressor.
