hi chaps id like some more advice please, I was doing my roof drain checks yesterday and I discovered ive got a broken rear NS spring.
im pretty good with the spanners,so will hopefully tackle it myself. just need a little advice.
ill obviously hire spring clamps to compress the spring.
seeing as tbe shock is separate from the spring.
can I get away with just jacking up the car, compressing spring with clamps, then fit new compressed spring..and remove clamps..
advice welcome. :D

No need for spring compressors buddy. Jack car up, wheel off, remove bottom damper bolt, then push down on the rear hub to give you enough room to remove the spring. Swap the rubber cups over onto your new spring and chuck it in. It took me about half an hour per side but would be easier with a mate.

another post chaps.
I own the z4 2.0 l i sport. do the rear springs differ from the z 4 2.0 l...
if so where can I get them apart from the stealers

I actually got mine thru amazon - Buycarspares, they do Suplex, well recommended here - if you mail them your reg and VIN you'll get the correct ones ... and there are many. About £70 I recall

And as above, easy job really, be brutal and just yank it out and reseat it. I just needed the wife to stand on the hub. Look it up on youtube also. I did crack a drop link when I tried to do myself as I was bouncing up and down a bit whilst leaning in ( don't do that :)) , heard a crack and wondered what it was, only after I had a rubbing noise on driving did I know that it had snapped. It must have been weak anyway, so needed a change, that was easy too, just tough.

Both really helped my tramlining, together with front tyre replacement as they were worn inside - I could not believe how loose it felt changing lane, nice and tight now

That bottom bolt can be solid and easily snap off so well worth soaking with penetrating fluid for a while and giving a good smack on the top (I think they are single use strictly speaking). As mentioned you will need to press the hub down to ease the new spring in, I stuck a wheel guide pin in one hole and slipped a tube over which made it easy to push down working single handed.

I tryied that website and input my vin, it comes up
3 opitiins for my car, two with m sport options.

1,,one just for a 2.0l not being specific to model.

2,,one being inactive m sport option.

3,,one being an active m sport option.

i suspect I have the inactive m sport version as the car sits low, and the term I sport would seem to lean towards this.it has M sport wheels and steering wheel also. I definitely dont have the active version as id have something to activate in cabbin.
ive found a post on the forum from another member that ordered wrong ones and the car sat a little high but gave a better ride.but changed them to the slightly smaller ones the iSport has for better handling, (but harsher).
ill keep ya posted on this one seeing as there are different soecs on the 2.0l model
