Breakdown Cover

With my change of job in July has come a huge shift in mileage. I've covered 9k miles in 4 months (personal and business miles but mainly work related).

As such and even though my car has just ticked over 23k and 2 years of age, I'm considering breakdown cover (just in case, especially as its all run flats these days).

Any recommendations?

A quick confused.com quotation came up with Kwik-Fit Roadside Plus for just £17.04 a year! Up to 6 call outs and covers roadside repairs (up to 1 hour), recovery to a destination (within 20 miles) & recovery to your intended destination.

Has anyone used them as this seems way too cheap to me?

It is a case of you get what you pay for, that is very cheap even for the basic cover you've outlined.

AA cover for you in any car roadside, recovery (to any UK destination of your choice) also free onward travel ie hire car for 3 days (special offer). No limit on call outs :wink: but it costs £99.
Give me a nudge if your interested you could even get £10 back

only 12 months on used approved cars which expired last month..

I'm with GEM Motoring Assist http://www.motoringassist.com/ who have been consistently voted above RAC and AA etc. I haven't had to call on them yet though. I was with the RAC for years and then had to call them for a flat battery on the Z3 and my premium doubled to 160 quid come renewal so promptly dumped them.

I use the R.A.C breakdown which follows the people named,paid for with my Tesco club card points.

OP, I've not heard of the scheme you mention but wondered if you have asked your insurance company? Most of them offer breakdown cover as an add-on.

Personally I use RAC - it costs me plenty (£180ish a year IIRC) but includes Home-Start and recovery of any distance, plus it covers me rather than a car so works for both of mine! (And any other car I may be in).

We have cover with Britania Rescue. I called them when my rear tyre exploded. Trouble free service.

All our cars are on one policy, that covers any driver. Plus I am covered for any car I am driving. We've also extended the cover to Europe a couple of times.

My first zed was bought used (pr registered) and I used the breakdown service just inside three years due to flat battery. Also used previous to that when had the HVA issue.

Your car is under three years old so should be covered. Easy way to find out, give them a ring and try and log a call :wink:

I have a Lloyds Premier Account. Full breakdown and onwards journey cover, travel insurance and home emergency cover.

Im pretty certain thats what the salesman said when I purchased and also its whats listed on the used approved site. I will try and call them though!
