Brand nu ...engine failure

My late 2009 30i Z4 (auto/manual) has spent more time in the dealership garage than mine . :( I always drive in sports mode and as i slow up to an intersection the engine cuts out; on comes the yellow engine failure light and back she goes to the dealership. This problem is intermittent and has been experienced once by the dealership when the manager was taking it for a test drive.Phew!! its not my driving!!

I cannot fault the dealership's manner in which they have handled this dilemna (eg supply me with a new car and keep me informed) but the joy of having a new Z4 has vanished :( :(

The dealership initially renewed the software, then replaced the central computer and on the last visit replaced the junction box....on all occasions the dealership computer never identified a problem ...but the problem remains.

I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else out there and whether they have managed to fix the problem. If the problem cannot be solved..what's the next step? ..a replacement?

I guess replacement is the next option as the engine has failed for the 8th time. i have now lost confidence in the car's safety (when in sports mode) :(
Just thought i'd share this experience incase others have had this problem and have managed to solve it.

8 times :o I'd be pushing them very hard to agree to one last chance to fix it or agree to a replacement. Lousy that youre having such a bad time with a new car.

I'd be pushing them to either replace any and all parts that control this! If they can't fix it after 1 more time, i'd be knocking down the doors for a replacement.

At least they know you've had problems and your not just showing up with a first time problem pissed off.

Good luck man!

I think there are only so many times I would be going back for the same problem. In my opinion BMW 'tachnicians' are not about diagnosing what the problem is they just replace parts in the hope that it will fix whatever the issue is. This is unfortunately not restricted to BMW but most franchised dealers I use for other family and work cars apperar to do the same. I think I would be at the stage of money back or new car please
