Brake warning light

Hey guys,

A week ago my brake warning light appeared on the dash, I ordered some pads and changed them today but the light is still showing.
Is there any way to get rid of it or is it one of those crap dealer only things to make you go in? Brakes are simple to change so I didn’t really fancy paying the dealer but now this light is just going to get on my nerves! :headbang:

would it be the brake ware sensor light? i recently had my brakes changed and i had the front and rear sensors done as well, as i had the warning light.

You can easily see if the sensor needs replacing as the plastic on the top will have worn away showing metal.

If the light is on, the offending one (either left front or right rear) will need replacing. About a tenner.

you will need to replace the sensors. you can only reuse the sensors if you replace the pads before the warning light comes on, once the sensor is activated it damages it beyond repair. The sensors are about £12 each if i remember correctly.

yeah i didnt think anything of it, the sensor still shows as plastic. i presumed it would be activated by the position of the piston on the caliper or something rather than by that method

by the way, iv just had a look on the net. do you have to replace the whole sensor including the lead or just the tip that connects to the pad?

Dont think this is always the case, my light was on but didnt need to change the sensor
