Brake Upgrade

Evening all, I'm looking at upgrading my brakes and have heard decent things about the mtec range. Does anyone have any first have experience with these kits? I'm looking at the following - https://www.mtecbrakes.com/catalog/product/view/id/7133/s/bmw-performance-brake-kit-14/category/5296/ but seems rather cheap at £160 for four discs and the pads to go with all. Would it be a waste of money?!

Upgrade as in you’re upgrading to a larger set up? Or you’re just changing the pads and discs?

Just make sure you’re not getting anything dirt cheap (China, eBay etc). Think few people have mtec stuff so think it’ll be fine, the grooved or drilled isn’t really going to upgrade your brakes IMO. More an aesthetic thing.
 
I guess 'replace' would be a better word to use, I just picked the car up a few weeks back but it looks to me like it's got the original discs still on it which is far from ideal after fifteen years!

I wouldn’t bother with that kit.

Unless you intend on taking the car on track put OEM stuff on there :thumbsup:
 
I've got the mtec discs and pads on mine, not a bad kit to be honest, pads are a little dusty.

Mines developed a small vibration under braking so I may have cooked the front discs, not too sure yet.

All in all for the cost it's a good kit, looks good behind the wheels too :)

I have mtec discs on mine. Nothing wrong with them. Anyone who says otherwise either has a lead foot or drives way too fast on public roads :lol:

I went for mtech drilled and grooved discs and textar epads, which give out almost no dust.
 
If you are hard on your brakes and do any track work then worth changing to a high temp brake fluid.I went for slotted only rotors as drilled rotors can crack with high temps but they are fine for normal road use.
