Brake Rust

When I went to sign the paperwork prior to collecting my Z4, I noticed that there was a thin coat of rust on one of the wheels, visible through the alloys. It wasn't on the discs themselves, but on surround of the wheel hub/rotor itself. Only one wheel was affected, and the salesman showed me other cars that had the same problem. He said it was normal, and that nothing could be done. It's just that it was quite noticeable with the 19 inch alloys on the car, and only 5 spokes. Does anyone know how I can remove this please? I don't want to start taking wheels off and using a wire brush, so would painting on a rust remover gel and then hosing off solve the problem - albeit temporarily? Cheers!

when I clean my car I get rust on the discs and when I drive off (even if it's a couple of hours later) I get rust stains on the rims (presumably fallen from the discs). It really annoys me because the alloys are spotless when I drive off. It cleans off ok but it's still a pain. Might be that on your wheels ?

Quite a common problem this one. Do a search for painted hubs / calipers and you will find that plently of forum members have managed to resolve it. Apparently most new cars come with special paint to prevent rusting - but BMW have chosen not to bother...

Certainly not a deal breaker though! Enjoy the car
