Well I'm torn, hate to bug ya'll cause a see a few searches that somewhat have my answer, anyways here goes...

I can't decide if I want Ferodo DS2500 pads or Stoptech street performance pads to go with my new front rotors. I ordered Power Slot slotted rotors for the fronts. The DS2500's are much more expensive but it seems like they have more positive reviews than the stop tech. I mostly do street driving (lets say spirited street driving), car cruises/meets often enough, and the occasional track day. So yeah just wondering if anyone has experience with either of these two pads and can help me decide.

Ferodo DS2500: Ferodo DS2500 Club Race pads can be used on the street and for light to medium track duty. Good cold bite, but can be noisy. Proper bedding can help reduce this noise. Less compressible than other pads, giving it excellent pedal feel and good modulation. The average friction level of about 0.50 remains constant at any speed and at temperatures up to 1,000 degrees F, after which it falls off slowly.

StopTech Street Performance: StopTech Street Performance brake pads are StopTech's newest formulation, offering a combination of high bite, low noise, low dust, and sufficient operating temperature range to be used in light to medium duty track applications as well as street. These are now the included brake pads for StopTech big brake upgrades.

I should also add that I hate buying a pad that doesn't seem to give any hard numbers such as what max temp it is rated too. That said, I trust Stop Tech a good bit. That lack of numbers is one of the main reasons I haven't bought the pads yet.

I've heard good things about the yellowstuff, and are considerably cheaper.

You can't go wrong with the DS's 2500. Very popular choice. Pagid blues are also a good option.

Just out of curiosity, what discs do you have in your car now?

The StopTech ones has a similar initial bite to the DS2500, but can take 1300 degree F too.

I went through the Ferodo range with my APs a long time ago and found the DS2000 to be not much better than standards pads, DS2500 were better but by not much, and the DS3000 were quite noisy but much better.

I've tried a few over the years, and whilst I know I can get an excellent pad for £250 for the front axle (i.e. Pagid RS range), I also know that I can get a pad that's almost as good for half that price (EBC Blue). However, neither option is road legal (not that it really matters).

If there's enough of a price difference, I'd give the StopTechs a chance.

I currently have Centric Premium's on the car now, but they are pretty worn. Forgot to mention I got the 325mm calipers/carriers to put on the car and as such I'm upgrading the rotors/pads to match. I need to yank off the rear's to check the wear on those. I've had the existing pads (axis deluxe ULT pads)/rotors on the car for a few years now plus multiple track days & spirited driving.

Mmm-five, the price difference is (Ferodo) $142 vs (Stop Tech) $85.
I think cost is going to get me to purchase the Stop Techs, found some great reviews of them on a M5 forum.

I read someplace that the Stoptech Street pads are the same as the Axxis ULT's. I've got those on mine and i'm happy with them. Pretty much the same as stock when cold but bite a bit better once they've warmed up a bit. Not a big difference but i wasnt looking for anything else to be honest.

They feel a bit funny for the first couple of hundred miles though, a bit hard to judge the braking point at slow town speeds. The stock ones were more grabby for the first few cm of pedal travel. They'll smoke a lot the first few times you drive the car in anger but then they'll be just fine. It's now pretty difficult to actually even make them smell. I like them and for the price would use them again.

I am with ga41 on that, the Axxis I have squeeled a bit in the beginning but now are as quiet as anything. Oh, and no more dust.

I assume the Stoptech is just a new name for them (?)

I thought as much but i've been trying to find the page i read it from and cant remember where it is.

Anyway, Stoptech had the Axxis ULT as their standard pad for the big brake kits and they've replaced them with their own Street Performance pads even if they're not the same they should at least be comparable...

At any rate I've decided on the Stoptech. The cheaper cost being the bigger factor (that and my dwindling number of track days per year). Having had Axxis ULT's on the car, if that's what they are under a different name then I will be happy as I had no problems with ULT's on the track....any fade I did have I think was due to old fluid & not bleeding prior to a track day (plus Las Vegas temperatures).

Thanks everyone for your help.
