Brake pad problems

Hi all I have a been having a problems recently when braking to a stop I get a metal on metal tap which I have narrowed down to the brake pad at the piston side shifting up and down I have replaced the pads and the problems still persist I just wondered if anyone knows of anyway of stopping the pad from moving up and down as I brake.

There's a retaining clip on the back of the pad that sits inside the piston, on some aftermarket brands they don't sit tight enough so the pad can move. Try taking the pad out, spreading the clips a bit wider and refitting, should fix it!

It's also not unheard of for the clip to break off, in which case the only real fix is replacement.
 
The discs are almost brand new and do seem to run how they should and the pads have the clips I will have to try and spread the clips open bit, I have noticed the pads at the piston side don’t seat in the carrier very tight as I can move it up and down with some pliers.

Have you put a smear of silicone grease like CeraTec on all the pad contact points ? In the past I used Coppaslip but recently changed to CeraTec and things are much quieter and smoother :thumbsup:
 
Thanks for the reply I only use copper grease so I may put some grease on them and see if it make a difference it’s almost like it needs something to wedge the pad in place to stop it from moving up and down.
