Brake pad mileage

Hi everyone, what sort of distance are you getting on your original brake pads? My car is on 40k miles now and is an auto. I had the backs replaced a few months ago, and the fronts service indicator came on. So I booked it in to a local mechanic who got me some new pads but when I went to collect it he said he hadn't fitted them as the originals still have 50% wear left.

So that's a possible 80k miles from a set of pads which is great but seems pretty high?!

Has anyone else had theirs done yet and what sort of mileage where you getting? BTW I know it depends on driving style but I wouldn't say my style was anything special or careful on the brakes.
 
Mine say 14k left on front and 7k on rear, I've done 36k miles in 4 years. Non auto
 
Maybe I'm just gentle on the pads then :)

£265 was what I was quoted by BMW, local specialist £80 fitted with cable. And they didn't even fit them, I bet BMW would have just shoved them on :roll:
 
I traded my e89 with 68,000 miles and they were still saying 30,000 left on the fronts , however Stark got around 20k with his driving style
 
Yup that's right, drive hard and fast, brake late....20k tops. Car has 54k, and in 5k will need new front and backs
