Hi all, on my way back from Supercar Fest yesterday I had a Brake warning pop up.

‘Brake pads worn, have them replaced by the nearest BMW service;.

However if I do into the Vehicle Information bit on iDrive they seem to have plenty of life (Fronts were replaced 6 months ago) and indeed looking in person they look OK?

Am I right? It;’s weird the error doesn’t mention front/rear when there’s clearly sensors for both.

It’s a little tricky as I have 2 long drives coming up this week and I know I have no chance of getting it booked in anywhere in time, but they look fine to me?

If the pads look ok then it’s possible if could be a bad connection on the sensor wires, has the warning now gone off?

Knowing BMW’s approach of old, it wouldn’t surprise me you have a warning.

There’s clearly plenty of life left in them so unless you’re experiencing poor braking efficiency, carry on and don’t worry about it.

Exactly my thoughts now, trying to get my money a few mm early!

Comes on straight away every time you start it up. They look and feel just fine, so unless the inner pad is completely gone and I can't see I'll keep driving and get it checked when I can.

I thought there was also a setting in the computer with "how many miles before warning" as well as the sensor? Whilst I don't have iDrive, I remember seeing the setting when scrolling through to reset the annual maintenance check..

Or the fella who fitted the new pads didn't re set the system?
I had new discs and pads in the 335 at great expense and the chimp didn't re set the system - apparently he didn't know how!

I fitted new sensors, but left them tied up away from the pads. Tried to reset the counter, but wouldn't let me. So it has read 2000 to go ever since.
I think it has to count down to less than 2000 to enable a reset. But not bothered. The sensors are a pain in the ass.
