Brake issue

Good morning , having issues with the brakes on my 2.0l 2006 z4 .
they feel stodgey with a lot of travel on the pedel,
Can't find any leaks and have not changed anything .
Right hand side discs appear rusty and the left side appear bright and shiny.
When I stamp on the brakes you can feel the ABS working ,but once again the travel before this happens is unnerving.
I had all discs and pads changed a couple of years back doing roughly around 6k miles since then.so there shoukd be enough meat on the bones of the braking system.
Thoughts welcome

Would a seized caliper cause a large amount of travel and spongyness ..?

It seems strange that both discs on that side are rusty, not completely rusty as te brake does grip when depressed.
But seems to be sticking on at the front on the rusty side.

Any rust should easily disappear after an hours driving

Sticking Calipers are one of the Z’s Achilles heels, especially one almost 20 years old & not used much - I suggest also going the Calipers upgrade route (check how to guides here for doing very cost effectively) or simply refurb Calipers & guides

Significant pedal travel can be caused by old brake fluid, still air in the system (from last change) hence why a brake fluid change every 2 years on most cars is now considered the norm

I believe there’s also two different types of brake fluid, so possibly the wrong type was put in when pads n discs were changed… so a full on serious rebleed without ripping off the bleed nipples is, IMO, deffo the second step

Happy Xmas hooning

Rust doesn't seem to dissappear, it's not totally rusty but not shiney as it should be..so there is an issue on the near side..
I've bleed the brakes twice now with a brake bleed pymatic push kit..
Just wondering if using this method is causing issues?,I didn't actually pump the brakes in the old way with a bleed tube in a milk bottle. Also i didnt have the ignition on .just used the preasure from the bleed kit (20pis) to push fluid through.

Any thoughts.

Update on this spongy brakes .
Had both calipers on the side with the rusty discs replaced by the garage along with 2 brake hozes then it was bled by the garage, and all was fine according to them
Picked ot up today ..no difference if anything worse and I took it back.

Would it be possible for one of the brake pipes that feeds the rusty side to have become dented/squashed somehow? This might stop the flow of fluid.
