Brake fluid change question..

Ok, so replaced the worn Pagid front pads last week with Mintex. Discs ok for now so will probably replace next time. However although they are better, and are now bedded in, I still got a hint of fade today after a 2nd stop from erm, three figures..

Touch of brake smell, but I think the fluid may be past it's best. I've got a sealed litre of dot 5.1 in the garage, and was wondering if it's ok to mix whilst changing? Also is there a recommended sequence of wheels to do? Will use the Mityvac, so shouldn't take long.

Mike.

Mixing with what, DOT 4? Yes, no issues - a litre should be enough to do a change anyway. I've always started at the NSR but should have probably read TIS! As long as you get the old stuff out I can't see there being any issues.

Bleed the wheels in order starting with the one furthest away from the master cylinder and finishing with the one closest

All done. Old fluid was the colour of strong coffee! Service histor states it was changed in 2014, hmm....

45 mins from start to finish, including taking all wheels off, as I'd not had the rears off yet. Initial bite seems improved, so I'll see how they go.
