Brake Dust

Hello friends. I love my Z4 but for some reason about two short
drives after a wash my wheels are covered in brake dust. I drive it like an old man so I can’t understand why this happens. It’s a pain in the butt to wash the wheels. Is there a product that can be applied to help avoid instant brake dust? I’ve tried applying wax and ceramics but the dust still collects and is always very difficult to wash off. Many thanks.

Probably just the brake pad composition. You could just change the pads to a ceramic pad which will produce way less dust. Pads are cheap.

Sonax rim cleaner works very nicely to remove brake dust. Turns purple after you spray it on which indicates it is lifting the iron oxide off the rims. Spray it off the car in 2 -4 minutes before it dries. Then wash the rims as you normally would while washing your car to remove other general mud and dirt.

I understand your brake dust appears too quickly. Maybe your brake calipers are stuck? Do your wheels get warm/hot after a drive? If so, this would be from the brakes braking all the time, even when you don't apply them. Check it out.

I have the same problem since I switched to Textar pads. Dirtiest pads I've experienced in 50 years of working on cars.
