Brake duct blanking caps

Hi All,

Has anyone else noticed the blanking caps that block the majority of the airflow? The are part of the wheel arch liners. I am assuming that these can be removed for track / spirited driving, but are there for normal users to help hold some decent brake temps during normal road use?
