Yes - a well documented and easy swap. You need E46 330 diesel or petrol calipers, carriers (and of course pads). Upscales to the same brakes as the 3.0si
Big improvement in performance for very little costs and can be fitted in 1-2 hours all in.
Lots of threads on it so some searches will show all you need to know.

I'd be looking at £300-£400 all in, however the cost is largely driven by the price you pay for the calipers (new, refurbed or breakers) and quality of the discs. Set of calipers from a breakers yard with carriers thrown in free (as they are otherwise near worthless) should only be £100
There's a refurbed set on Ebay for £179 so that's a ballpark. (You 'd still need carriers)

Off topic, but I used to live in Lichfield.
I paid:
£100 for calipers and carriers
£80 to have calipers rebuilt (didnt need to do this but i wanted them to be as new)
£50 Redstuff Pads
£100 Brembo Disc's
£50 braided hoses
£14 for pad wear sensor and new spring clips.
£12 new caliper carrier bolts from BMW
Fitted all of the above myself and then bleed with standard dot 4 fluid, a month or so later i took the car to Munich legands for a brakefluid change and chose ATE Super Blue Dot 4 racing fluid.
I did a track day at the end of last year and they were spot on all day!

Just thought I would say if you are going to the effort of changing the brake fluid you may as well change the rear lines to braided as well.
I got a set of front and rear lines made up by Hel for £80. You can get them off the shelf but the rear OEM lines are two piece so when I got them made up I got Hel to make them single piece which actually saves money
