Brake disc replacement cost

Consider slotted discs, my car discs were badly worn at 40k, fitted slotted and drilled discs now at 86k and wear is about half the original disc with next to no scoring, with EBC pads. Also very little if any noticeable brake dust.
Previous set up you thought there was a coal mine in there.

Which discs and EBC pads did you use? My rears are going to need replacement in the near future, as you say the standard pads create a stupid amount of brake dust.

My car 23i, but other sizes look available.

They did offer plated discs, so that would reduce rusting of the hub. I painted my and they look good a long time.
And matching EBC green stuff pads.

Which aftermarket brand of disc will not rust?

Do you mean the disc centres or the swept area that the pads bite on?
Some discs have a coating on the centre section that stops rust there, as flybobbie says above cast iron is always going to rust after getting wet.

They will rust during the day if there is some rain or damp around, but i just paint the hub with some aluminium spray, nothing special.
They stay tidy for about 9 months by which time i have the wheels off anyway and tidy everything up.

I changed Discs Pads on my 2009 S Drive 3.0i admittedly 3 years ago after punting around but I bought from Euro Car parts
as follows
Part No 10111052C front brake pads Ceramic
101110778 rear brake pads (Pagid) OEM
104111548 rear disc ATE (OEM)
104111798 front disc ATE (OEM)
Dont forget you will probably need to change the sensors as they do not take well to being refitted but they are not expensive
106110808 front sensor
106110818 rear sensor
Not sure what there discount is today .Ceramic pads bit expensive but reduced brake dust considerably.

There is a noticeable less amount of dust using ceramic pads and as far as I can tell no loss in braking efficiency I did change my brake hoses to braided s/steel from Hell this gives a more positive brake action and less fade so this could have an influence.
I also had my calipers professionally refurbed and painted by "Big Red" who did an excellent job and now over 3 years on they look as when first painted.

Paint stays on the hubs no problem, just reapply every year or so to keep it looking fresh

The amount of break dust I have on my front two is ridiculous. Its collecting in the grooves and worried the more i try clean it the more it will damage the protective layer on my brand new alloys.

Can I ask if you have a link to the ceramic pads you bought?
I will probably get the front two discs changed first and pads to see the differences.

Sorry for late reply been tied up lately I bought them from Euro car parts under part no 10111052C " cross ddfront brake pads bmw 3 series" cost then was £78.00 also bought the discs from them as well

Worth looking on ebay at a seller ACP (All Car Parts)
I just bought Borg & Beck coated rear discs for my 35is for £54 a pair
Also at the moment they have great prices on Textar Pads, £31 for the back set including a fitting kit and £41 for the fronts.
if you run those through ECP and put the offer code in the pads come out at £134 instead of £72...

great spot... ECP are much more expensive, just ordered a set myself..

and you have very clean calipers! I'm considering painting mine but wonder if a home job is anywhere near as good as the factory finish they do, or getting the wrong blue.

When the lip on the edge of the disc is the same as the thickness of a credit card, change them.
