Brake Caliper Painting

Can you paint them with the calipers still on the car?

You can but you gat a much poorer result. You cannot clean the caliper properly, have to mask up everything and still risk missing bits or overpainting.
I adopt a half way house and take the caliper off the disk but leave the hose connected. Take the pads out and hang the caliper on a bent coathanger. You get a real neat job for the sake of less than 2 minutes to remove the caliper.

Didn't remove my calipers or mask up, just took more care with the brush not to overpaint anything. Perfectly happy with the result but agree removing the caliper is probably best.

You don't need to remove them. A couple of different size brushes & take your time. Spend time prepping them wire brush & degreaser & you'll be fine

+1 as kermit1970 has said. I also use a small pencil brush for those small hard to reach areas, It really isn't difficult, I use silver smooth Hammerite which is easy to apply. Just need to take your time
