Hi,

Can anyone suggest or recommend someone/somewhere that does caliper painting in the west Mids/worcs area?!

I know you can do this yourself but I would prefer to let an expert handle my new baby!!!

Cheers,

v. easy - You just need brake cleaner, pot of (red) paint, a paint brush, a jack and a mat to sit your behind on.

takes about 3 hours (inc of 2 or 3 coats of paint)

As already said.^^^

I can do the service but steer away as my insurance doesnt cover it ( iirc ) and tbh, majority of detailers that do offer the service arent covered for taking wheels off so its at your own risk. From what I recollect, you need the grades of a tyre / exhaust fitter to be elligable for insurance to do so.

If doing it yourself then break cleaner, various cloths, masking tape, couple of brushes and some hammerite smooth paint plus plenty of patience and a steady hand will get you there.

I saw Ed painting brake calipers on Wheeler Dealer. I think a "proper" job requires taking them off.

Is Powder coating them an option? thats if they have been removed or replaced! Seen Redzedfour has done his exhaust trims and they look the part! Wouldnt have a clue if the powder coating would last or if they are able to deal with brake caliper temps, Im sure someone will know on here!

I bought a set of Brembo 4 pots as an upgrade on my last car. The calipers were in a sorry state after going through a gravel trap on a trackday.
I sent them down to a place in Essex who shotblasted them, powdercoated them and then posted them back. It cost me less than £30 I think.

When they came back they were immaculate, mint, better than new. lol
However...

The pistons wouldn't go back in.
After much arsing about it turned out that the heat needed to dry the powdercoat had expanded the seals. I therefore had to order over £100s worth of seals and dustboots from the US. These then got pulled my customs and got additional charges etc.

So long story short, paint them by hand. lol

On a side note the powdercoat lasted over 3 years, but at that point started to peel due to heat exposure.
