As the weather has now turned cold, i thought it was time to let BMW have my E89 back so that they could sort out the window bounce (when putting the roof up).
The dealers had it for 3 days and carried out lots of test. Even after carrying out a "guided test" they found now't wrong. They did remark that there was some sort of residue in the window channel on the drivers side. cleaned it, and pronounced it cured.
My service rep (Rob - really nice guy) didn't necessarily believe that the problem had been fixed. Still i want this investigated before the warranty ends at the end of December.
I said i'd take it and report back. Strangely when i opened the boot i noticed that the load cover was in the open position and the umbrellas i had been using a few days ago, were in the same position as when i dropped off the car. This got me thinking that the dealers had probably only tested the window up/down without lowering/raising the roof (which is when the problem occurs!). That will be 3 wasted days then!
When i got home, i called Carrie to come and film the roof up process as i believed that it would once again have a bouncing window.
Low and behold...... yes the o/s window bounced all on film. As the dealers had left their key dongle on the car key, i thought i would take it back to them and show them to footage. They have asked for a copy of the footage so that it can be forwarded to BMW.
I have spoken to them many times regarding the cure being the rear window delay, but to no avail. I will keep trying, but before it goes in again, i will want to know what they intend to do, and to insure that they support warranty on this problem beyond the warranty period.
If there is a TSB and somebody know the details of it, i would appreciate this information.
