After much research, reading of reviews and posts, and the fact that every Karcher I have ever had has not lasted 5 minutes..

I went for a Nilfisk, with a built in fed hose, so no messing around..
I ordered the Nilfisk E 140.3-9 X-Tra Pressure Washer with 2.1 KW Induction Motor from Amazon for £214.99 with free next day delivery

Arrived next day, and VERY impressed with the sturdiness and quality...

Also ordered a snow foam attachment, was going to get the Autobrite one, at £40, but baulked at the £6.95 delivery, especially when it was "dispatched within 72hrs, on a 72hr service" Really, up to six days for delivery after paying almost £7...

Ordered one of these instead, for £21.49 from Ebay, with free p&p along with 10L of Pro Kleen Snow Foam, again from Amazon @ £19.99

Also arrived the next day,

So just had a little play...

Applied to dry, but dirty car and left to soak for 10 mins, no brushing or agitation whatsoever..

Quick rinse off, again no brushing etc..

Very impressed with the results! And the whole job took 15 mins start to finish.. No streaking at all to bodywork or glass!

I don't really see the point of snow foaming as after I've done it I still wash the car as I would have without the foam! I'm trying to convince myself that it helps by dissolving some of the dirt, but I'm not so sure. Am I doing something wrong as it still takes me three hours!?

Looking at the photos, I'd say the foam I managed to get looks a lot thicker, it certainly showed very little signs of shifting after 10 mins, not sure how long the foam has been on your car in the pics, but maybe a stronger/thicker solution? I was fully prepared to hand wash after foam, but found no need on this occasion. I see it a bit like soaking the dishes, which always makes them easier to clean afterwards..

As an example, I also washed my neighbours SL320 for him, hence the rush time wise, didn't get any pics of it foamed up or afterwards, as was in a rush BUT it has been stood outside, uncovered for 3 months, and was FILTHY, as can be seen in the pic. PW'd it first to remove heavy stuff and then foamed, left and rinsed, didn't want to touch it with a brush/mitt as was very gritty.

After the rinse it looked as if it had been hand washed...

I always hand wash after a snowfoam too.. think the foam just makes it a bit easier, I don't think there is such a thing as a touch free wash if you want a proper job... that said if you just want a bit of a quick clean up and not to fussy about the finish then a foam and rinse can look a lot better than a mucky motor

I think the idea is that you take more dirt particles off before you start scrubbing it in with your two buckets even after your initial rinse.

Don't know how much better it works myself but doesn't take much longer and the pressure washer is out anyway :D

15 minutes you say? :poke:

3 hours? To wash a porker?

Amateurs!

Yesterday....

OH's car
Snowfoam and rinse.

Z4
Snowfoam
Rinse and cleaned out all the excess foam from the bootlid hinges.
Handwash
Rinse
Clay the entire car. Nightmare job after a winter of resurfacing locally.
Rinse
Handwash
Rinse
Dry
Wax
DA Polish

Would have gave it some Wax sealant but didn't have time and after 5 hours it was looking ok and we were going out.

This week the interior and the roof are getting it weather permitting.

Might be your snowfoam, lux? I bought some of this recently, its excellent for shifting bugs, grime, traffic film etc. My routine is:

Rinse whole car
Apply wheel cleaner
Snowfoam with traffic film remover
Leave 10 minutes (long enough for a cuppa)
Rinse whole car
Wash with Meguiars Gold & clean wheels
Rinse
Spray with quick detailer & towel dry
Dress tyres and inner arches

Whole thing takes 30 - 45 minutes.

I used to use the valet pro stuff, didn't find it very good - I also wasn't too impressed with their citrus prewash foam. The Power Maxed stuff is really impressive, I use it on a 10:1 dilution in the lance, plenty thick enough and removes all the crap on #108, the wife's 4x4 and the dogs' "shed" - the "shed" is a regular in the woods, beach etc so is usually filthy! One addition - I have a water softener, and use a warm water feed (but also did with the snowfoam).

Power Maxed doesn't - states it on the link that it won't strip wax or sealant.

EDIT: forgot to add, I started using it after a review in Detailing World (link) where it got some pretty impressive results,

the snow foam with a traffic film remover will get the dust off but it's really just to soften up the dirt and get it ready for the proper wash so you're not dragging stuff over your paint.

Highly recomend Anachem, it's a local chemical company that started doing it's own stuff and it's fantastic, getting good reviews locally and on detailingworld, guy happens to be a big petrol head as well so uses our local car forums.

The glass cleaner is brilliant

i've pretty much switched to all Anachem stuff now, use clearview , ultragloss, ultrafoam, gleam, and articulate (which is fantastic)
use the foam gun to apply everything but gleam(shampoo into a bucket) and clearview(aerosol)

My regieme
Articulate all over and some wheel cleaner on, Foam (dwell), rinse, re-foam, gleam(shampoo) into a bucket, wheels, mitt+gleam rest of car, rinse, ultragloss, light rinse with the foam gun no bottle, dry

lad from forums did his own quick wash vid for his stuff
