boot water leak again

Started to get a little water in the boot on the near side well.
I can see where the water is dripping from, It's dripping from above the rear light, where the rear wing seems to have a double skin, if you open the boot and look at the bolts that seem to hols the wing in place then it's under there.
Now I think I have read that water can get through the bottom rear roof seal !!! Anyone else had water from this area and actualy know how it's getting to the place where it's dripping from ?
I'd nip outside and take a picture of the area but it's lobbing it down at the moment :(

I had a boot leak. Replaced the vents, made no difference. Replaced the gaskets around the rear lights and raised the boot seal, aswell as applying gummi pflege to it. As far as i'm aware, it's now fixed.

Ive still not managed to sort my boot leak. I need to get it sorted. Car is garaged but after sealing the rear vents, I left the car out in the rain the other night and it filled with water again.

If you pull the boot carpet up at the side, you see the wheel arch covered in thin layer of foam.
The water is trickling down here - The foam is soaked all the way to the top of the arch, as far as I can get my hand which is about level with the rear of the roof.
Has anybody else had this? Seems like a roof out job as I cant see any further than the top of the arch

I had this, it was a really easy fix. get some of that clear silicone stuff, I think its called RVT from Halfords. you want to put some between the double skin bit where the torx screws are. make sure the gap is totally covered form top to bottom.

that should fix it. let me know how you get on.

Is that to me z4all?
Mines not the double skin bit. I think mines got something to do with the roof but I wont know the how why and what until Ive removed it

Had this on a 7 series,

Turned out to be the LHD steering wheel cover in the pass anger footwell leaking, it's a known problem on the x series, 7 series and 1 series so worth a look

The water leaks in if your parked on an incline or there are leaves blocking the drains under the bonnet, the water leaks under the floor but as there is a gap the carpets don't get wet and the first you notice is water near your battery in the boot

It's an easy fix and easy to get to in a z, so have a butchers if your still scratching your head on this issue

I must get my arse into gear and give this ago.

Cheers

I had the same problem; it was rain water leaking in down the side of the boot opening beyond the boot seal along the top edges where the fasteners securing the plastic trim for the rear light clusters to the bodywork were worn. I have re-sealed them with 'Boss White' plumbing sealant - better still, you could use silicon sealant - but it did the job.......
I have also placed dehumidification 'tubs' in the boot wells on either side, which have removed all the moisture that couldn't be removed by towel drying etc.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that PP but mine is coming in higher up than that, it is actually dripping out of the raised dimples on the double skin inside the boot just up from the rear lights towards the hinge. If you run your hand under there you can feel the dimples

I've just had a quick look; I would remove all fasteners in that area and seal them. Give it a test with a watering can, if there's still a leak, you can find water tracks, so start sealing the less obvious fasteners as I can't see any other route for the water to get in - its a sealed metal trough effectively.
Hope this helps, but drop me a line if not and I'll have another think.

PP.

Yes this is going to be my next point of call. If car is on slop of drive nose down it doesn't seem to leak.
But then I get a leak though passanger door into foot well, This I believe could be the plastic door seal under the door card.
As soon as it's a nice day and I have the time I need to have a good full day and try and get to the bottom of these tasks

You are halfway there if you know where its coming from!

That is what I thought but can I hell as find out where it's getting in to that point.
I'll sus it though at some point
