Boot / Trunk Wont Open From Roundel E89

Hi Guys,
I have a strange issue where my boot wont open via the roundel however it opens via the fob and the button i installed in the drivers foot well every single time perfectly fine.
So I'm assuming the mechanism is fine.

I have tested with a different boot handle i purchased off eBay and it was the same story with the fault no change.
Tested the switch on the roundel with a multi meter and looks fine and compared it to the other one purchased off ebay.
My cable going to the roundel from the main loom seemed a bit tatty and so i tested that and it seems fine as well.

Checked all my coding on carley and looks fine and no errors pop up on any of the modules for the boot on ista.

There are times where i pull the whole rear lining off the boot lid and play with it and it works for a while and then goes dead again. Which made me think the wiring has had it or its a dodgey connection but i already tested it all and seems fine :headbang:

Thought it could be an ecu issue which is the last thing i have in mind to swap if its one of the ones in the boot, but so far swapped 2 of 3 of the units in there (PDC and CTM). not sure what the last one is. will remove it and see if trunk even opens or closes with it gone.

Again one of the few issues i picked up from Jan 2018..

It gets a bit annoying because i always have to open my boot via the fob and makes the roundel obsolete lol!

Any ideas??

Removed 3rd module in boot and it has no impact on the boot opening or closing mechanism so I assume it's not related.

Does anyone know where the boot rounded.wires trace back to.. which ecu and maybe even which pins on it..??

Many thanks

Huseyin

Sorry about this but I have to ask the stupid question. Are you doing it right?
When you unlock the car with one click, only the drivers door unlocks. The boot remains locked. You can still open the boot with the boot button on the fob but not the roundel.
If you unlock again, the passenger door and boot unlock. You can now open the boot with the roundel.

Hi yeop, tried it that way as well.
I coded it so it all unlocks from the first click :)

Switch is bottom right wiring diagram

Is this the module with the fuse box on the passenger side with the black and blue connector?
Image says right hand side.. but thinking could be usa diagram so would be on drivers side.. i thought that was the footwell module or something??

Thank you so much, really appreciate this and I will try and have a look today to see if there is any issues in the wiring from roundel to ecu if i can figure out where to look LOOL!

really appreciate that flybobbie life saver!

SORTED!

Many thanks flybobbie!

was able to track the cable down through the wiring diagram. (was the jbe on the passenger side which is left not right side for uk cars)

check cable from boot to connector on junction box, bad read out looked like there was something wrong with the cabling.. but when i moved the fuse box changed the readings.. before i pulled the entire thing apart there is a funny line in the electrical diagram which i assumed meant something is there or its a type of connection and low and behold there is on the edge of the fuse box as you pull it down.

the connectors little tab that the slidey bit locks in to is damaged so it wouldnt lock and stay in place hence the bad read out. cable tied it down through the cables to keep it in place and it all works fine now and read out from multimeter was much better.

Waho im on a role... Roof and boot fixed... in the space of a few weeks... will be able to enjoy my new mods more now LOL..

once again
THANK YOU SO MUCH fluybobbie.. life saver!

Good. Most satisfying when you can fix a problem.
Might be idea to put a link to the fix in the "how to" section.

Not very familiar with forum technicalities..
would i start a new post there and include a link to it... or is there another way of doing it.. sorry pardon the ignorance...
