Hi , I have a 2004 Z4, when I press the boot release button the boot lid releases and pops up aout 1/2 an inch.

I thought that was normal...then I thought maybe it should open fully and my gas struts are just shot... am I right ? or is it normal ?

Thanks :D

Yes Normal, can you imagine if it went up on its own.. how many split lip or dental claims would be made? lol

Hi guys, thanks, it's just that my wife got a new VW Pasaat and it comes up all the way and my Mercedes used to..it was very handy when you had your hands full...so don't think it's a problem with insurance claims otherwise Mercedes and Volkwagon would be broke among others ...I'm sure !

Ah but Mercs et all do nice soft uplifts on their boots. I'm sure BMW would just have a fling open approach if they did it lol

No, that's just too much. I look silly enough wearing knee guards to protect myself from open cup holders.
And short track skating neck guard for protection from the seat belt.

They(BMW) could just put a big warning sign on the boot saying "don't hold your head over the boot with mouth open while pressing the boot(Trunk) release button" that should cover it for all the numbskulls out there !!!
