Boot lid opens while driving then won't shut

I have looked at a couple of threads already and still can't get my head around the issue so apologies if this looks like a duplicate. I have a 2007 e85 2.5si. I set off in my car this morning and the boot popped open whilst driving, I stopped to shut it and it wouldn't close. I found that if I held it down a few seconds it looked but once I set off again... Up it pops again. If I hold it shut to lock it then turn the engine off it stays locked but once the engine is on and I'm moving it pops open again. Any help would be greatly appreciated please as to how to fix this.

It could possibly be the switch in the front kick well,

When you push on the boot you can hear it trying to catch and can still hear it trying to open when the switch is pressed so that might make sense. Something you've ever had to replace?

No but all I can think is if you unplug the switch an see if it cures the problem, just make sure your key works in the boot lock first , I just remember when top gear did the Africa special an clackson had a 5 series with electric boot release it had problems,
