boot lid hinge stop thingy

As UK-spec E85 cars all seem to have "hardtop preparation", I would have thought the little spacer/washer thingy that stops the boot lid smashing into the hardtop window would already be in situ.

However, having recently obtained a hardtop, it's a little disconcerting to see the gap between the bottom edge of the hardtop's rear window and the leading edge of the boot lid when open, is less than 2mm.

So do I presume the little beastie is not part of hardtop prep - or is the design deliberately engineered by BMW to such a fine tolerance  ?

Can someone who has the genuine items (I presume there's two) fitted on their car, upload a photo together with a comment about dimensions and material of construction, and any suggestions about what can be used? (Why do I expect some comical responses to that...)?

cheers

I had some hard black nylon tubing in my garage which I managed to 'persuade' over the boot lid stops with the aid of some GT85 spray. Trimmed it off flush with a Stanley knife. It looks factory and now a healthy 10mm gap between the edge of the bootlid and the hardtop screen when it's open
