Boot condensation

I've seen many threads on here about water in the boot.

My 2004 3.0i suffers terribly with condensation on the inside of the boot lid, which subsequently drips on to the boot floor and anything in there.
Is this normal? Where do I find the drains, which I assume also give ventilation?

thanks in advance.

just checking the obvious, what are your a/c and venting controls set to? you need to be bringing fresh air in from outside the car, and keep the air con running regardless of whether you're heating or cooling the car

Pretty sure this is caused by there being no insulation on the underside of the boot lid. It's just bare metal. Not sure what you can do to get rid of it, apart from checking/replacing the vents behind the rear bumper.

If you have condensation then you probably have a leak in the boot.
Common areas are the seals around the rear lights, plus the air vents behind the bumper have been know to be installed upside down.

Check all the carpets for damp. Are they dry, what about the sound proofing underneath?

I'd only had mine a week or so when I discovered that water was getting into the boot when I washed the car. Stuck my head inside and with a torch, noticed water dripping in from the area above the rear lights. There are two push-in, plastic, square-section bosses that receive the screws that fasten the plastic trim piece over the rear lights. These push-in bosses had rubber skirts, but they had perished. I bought replacements for a couple of quid (and dabbed grease onto the underside of the new rubber skirts prior to fitment) and haven't had a problem since :)
