Bonnet black underneath

I think i've found a car that i want to buy, everything looks good but one thing i wanted to ask....

Its a dark grey 3.0 and when i opened the bonnet/hood the underneath was painted black and not grey like the rest of the car, are they all like that?? Im just worried it might have been replaced at some point. :(

Put my mind at rest people!! :)

Not 100% sure but i seem to remember ours is matt black too....

Bit of a worry when you open up the bonnet!

Yep paul a kind of Matt black. I've never seen that before and got a bit concerned. Its the same grey colour as yours gannet so give me a shout if yours is black to. Must say the 3.0 feels much beefier than the 2.5 :D !

Is there a buyers guide on this forum anywhere??

December Issue of Total BMW had a 6 page guide in it. Conclusion was to 'buy a 3.0i for £15k', which cross referencing to their table suggests a 2003 private sale less than 50k miles

Cheap BMW never bothered Finish coating the inside then!

Saying that its big enough to be a black board so i guess the matt black help with class notes!

My Alpine White is ... white underneath. Bit of a pain as you have to keep it clean (and clean it up without messing the engine bay!) otherwise it looks a bit crap when you open the bonnet (hood!)...

Well, i have a silver car and its matt silver underneath ?..........what is it suppost to be ?

Colours will vary depending on your top colour, the lighter the colour the lighter the base colour would have to be
