Boarding with gopro

Me and a friend went snowboarding and just before I went bought a gopro black. So, this is the first time filming with one. Great snow as you'll see and neither of us are fans of staying on the piste so some good conditions for it.

I'm going to get the car suction mounts and when the weather hots up get my other mate out in his ZM roadster for a filming day :driving:

Great video! Really enjoyed that, nice work :thumbsup: some awesome snow and empty mountains too! Makes me want to squeeze in another trip this season. Was in Tignes also this year then St Anton shortly after.
 
Nice choice of soundtrack! I used the same song for my snowboarding video last year.

The cult seems to fit boarding quite well.
 
Cheers guys, we try get away from the crowd as much as poss which usually means exhausting hikes and the like. Always worth it for fresh snow though :D

The gopro is great but there was a lot of trial and error! Filming in pockets, bad angle, batteries run down etc etc. Just glad we got enough footage to get 3 mins of video that looks good!

The track does seem to go well, I tried all sorts but none seemed to sit right. 8)
 
I find that the cold temperatures affects the battery life on my go pro - 2.5 hours in normal temperatures turns into 90 mins on the slopes. Bought a silicon cover/hood for it though as insulation - makes it last so much longer!
 
... very nice, some good editing - what software did you use to blend the different scenes together?

What software did you use? I bought Sony Vegas and have just been given a bunch of software from work to try too
 
I've used Sony Vegas a few times now. It seems to do the trick for this sort of thing.

I've just started trying to edit a video from 2 weeks of snowboarding in Canada this season. It's taking ages!

That's great too! Effective escapism for me this morning watching that. I wish I was creative and could produce videos like you guys. This is the extent of my capabilities unfortunately

Nice one raify. I just used iMovie and an app called slopro to do the slow motion bits.
Slow motion really helps as it steadies the shots. So many shots just look shaky that it helps you not get that seasick feeling watching them.

I did do some tv editing about 12 years ago on avid. Quick edits is the best way forward for action sports. As many angles as poss and close up stuff works much better than a dot coming down the hill.

Last year a friend had a gopro while we were boarding so I knew what to film this time round. Always a slight gamble getting things framed right when your at a couple of thousand feet flying down a hill!

I've finally finished my video. I really enjoyed filming it, less so editing it!

It's not as cool add the video at the top of this page. I think I need one of those sticks so I can film myself. All the best boarding has translated into the dullest footage.

Out of interest what resolution was your recording at? Did you tweak any of the settings on the gopro?

Ohhh...Now I want to go again!

My slope closes 1st of May, wonder if I can squeeze a weekend in before then?

How will the Z be on an alpine road in the snow?
