BMWhat E85M ?

I have an email into BMWhat to see of this will work with BMW E85 M. The website is a it contradictory, as one point is says it works on BMW newer than 2007 - but doesn't work on E85. So, will this work on an 08 E85 M?

She said it did but only on a Wednesday!

BMWhat is diagnostic / coding software available for IOS & Android platforms. I'm an Apple guy, so I know its available at the App Store. It used a WIFi or Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the OBD port to read codes and data from the modules. So, you can use your IPad to do a lot of things that could only be done previously by the dealer.

Just wondering if anyone knows if it works for sure with E85 M. Just google it if interested.

It seems for Android you can use a USB cable and it will work. For Apple its dongle only - so it's not clear.

Have used the android version with great results with a bluetooth obd dongle to code a few things to my E82 Coupe.

Happy to check compatability if any M owners in the Durham area.

It didn't recognise anything from my 2006 Z4MC, via a GoPoint BT1 OBD dongle and an iPhone 5s.

Just bumping this to see if anyone is using it and how you've got on.

I tried it last night (lite version on iPhone with plx kiwi) but only got a response from one ecu of the 28 checked :?

has anyone managed to get it to check more or am I best off looking elsewhere for my diagnostic curiosities?

I tried with android and a usb lead. Need to get the logs sent off as it started reading the ecu's but never completed.

I have it on android and it works perfectly with the E85 using my Samsung Galaxy S4.
You need the blue cable and mini usb converter for the E85. I have managed to do coding on my Z4M 2006 and diag check. Also diag check and clear on my Sons 2003 2.5.
I have used my Galaxy Tab with a Bluetooth dongle on the X5. Can't use the Bluetooth on the earlier cars.
I think you are stuffed with Apple and the E85 as they choose to implement proprietary interfaces instead of mini-usb like everyone else, and the E85 needs the cable. :fuelfire:

It's very good and they are adding features and developing all the time.

The "newer than 2007" reference is likely referring to the cars that supported the D-CAN interface...
The blue cable is not D-CAN (K I think?) and likely the wireless for Apple and Bluetooth for Android is D-CAN?

Found this on another site.

D-CAN for:

- E60, E61 od 03/2007

- E83 od 09/2006

- E81, E87 od 03/2007

- E90, E91, E92, E93 od 03/2007

- E70 (new model X5)

- R56 (new model MINI)

Thanks for that

I'd noticed on another site they were constantly developing but if the limiting factor is the phone then I guess I'm stuffed. Looks like I'll need to find another way to do the full diagnosis and coding then. Bloody Apple :headbang:

It's a shame I'm such a numpty when it comes to computers as I'd like to get the proper bmw software running but given that quite a few have mentioned it's a difficult install I don't think I stand much of a chance :(

My dongle just arrived today. I've no idea why I bought it, seemed like a good idea at the time and although I'm utterly hopeless with cars... i'm fascinated with behind the scenes stuff
Will try the phone app first but I want to avoid spending near £40 on an app that I won't really get much use from, so hopefully I can find a PC/laptop version.
