Good afternoon all,
I’ve made the snap decision that I’d like to sell my pride and joy… a BMW Z4M Coupe. This would be the perfect option for someone looking for a fine example as we move into Spring.
I've been a member of the Z4-Forum for a while, but am not a prolific poster.
I have advertised this on one other forum (non-car related) with the text below so apologies if some of the information provided is already obvious to / known by you.
Brief Background
I looked at several Z4MCs over a few months and found that many hadn't been looked after particularly well, had not been serviced properly (e.g. missing the all important 1200 mile service or not serviced to schedule), and so on. And then, a beautiful example in the exact colour combination I wanted arrived at a local BMW authorised Dealer (Bluebell BMW Wilmslow).
This was just over 2 years ago and I’ve been the happy and proud owner ever since.
Specification
The spec of the car is as follows:
BMW Z4M Coupe
2007 (07) registration
3.2 litre (straight six) with 340 bhp
35k miles
Manual
Silver Grey
Full red nappa leather interior
Carbon leather dash
19” alloys (rep CSLs)
Professional Satellite Navigation System
Bluetooth Phone
Full iPod integration for all your music needs
Heated seats
Full electric / memory seats
Cruise control
Rear park distance control
Multi-function steering wheel
Climate Control
Xenons
Etc.
Service History
The car has 2 previous owners. It comes with complete service history, as follows:
May 2007 - 1200 mile service (1235 miles) at Coopers
May 2009 - Oil service (9825 miles) at Hexagon
Jan 2011 - Inspection I (24131 miles) at Darren Wood
The first two are BMW dealers and Darren Wood is an independent BMW specialist based near Stockport. My experience of BMW dealers is mediocre at best whereas Darren Wood have a stellar reputation and I have first hand experience of their work – I would very much advise the purchaser to continue to use Darren Wood BMW for ongoing maintenance. Both Darren and Mike worked at authorised BMW dealers for many, many years before setting up the business and you won't find better. A quick search on Pistonheads or various BMW fora will show that many people use Darren Wood and are very happy with their work.
The Car
First of all, the engine – it’s a beast. It’s the powerplant from the E46 M3 supplemented by a number of CSL components and it is very impressive indeed. I owned a 911 (996) for many years and this engine is every bit as good. The car is mind-blowingly fast when you want it to be and it sounds incredible as you progress through the rev range. The car and engine also feel very 'tight’; it genuinely drives like a new car which I suppose one would expect with only 35k miles on the clock.
Externally and internally, this really is a fine example. The interior is clean and without marks / blemishes and externally the car is in excellent condition.
The car was bought in full by me – no outstanding finance.
The BMW Authorised Dealer from whom I bought the car completed all the relevant HPI and mileage checks, all of which were clean. The new owner will receive the documentation I received from the dealer.
How much does it cost to run?
MPG: The computer shows an average 29mpg which is corroborated by the odd occasion I work it out manually. I use the car on a daily basis generally along A / B roads.
Servicing: The car is showing 4k miles until its next service (the cheap oil service) and a break fluid change is also scheduled – together these will cost £195+VAT. After those are done, you will not require a service for a further c.15000 miles or 2 years.
MOT: Recently MOTd which takes you through to 31 March 2013.
Tax: The car is currently taxed to the end of July 2012.
Tyres: Plenty of tread left; tricky to measure but I’d say an average of 5mm all round. Certainly nothing to worry about here for many thousands of miles.
Overall
This is an honest car in excellent condition.
Brand new, it cost in the region of £48,000 once specced up. You are getting a low mileage car in excellent condition for a fraction of that initial cost:
£17,250 ono
I’ve had a look on Pistonheads and this appears a sensible price for this combination of low mileage / desirable colour combination / desirable specification.
Thanks for looking and please PM me if you have any questions.
