BMW Z4 3.0 Si Coupe fuel economy?!

I've varied with tanks of fuel from 46mpg down to 24. My average over 25,000 miles is 31mpg

26.1mpg round town for me, but hey, I did not buy a 3.0si to worry about fuel consumption..

They are getting them by not driving mainly in town and short journeys. Driving when the engine is cold on short journeys will devastate your average mpg. Next time you have a long journey reset your mpg and watch the average climb into the high 20's :wink:
I too have an auto box (love it) . I can get around 37 mpg on the motorway in vicar mode. My weekly average ( 50% urban 50% motorway) is around 27 mpg. The urban stuff is areal killer, stop and start so around 21-23 MPG.
Then again I didn't buy it for the economy it came as a pleasant surprise. When I was looking at other cars I test drove an RX8 and then looked up the MPG figures

I am always impressed with the fuel economy of my 3.0i. I live in Manchester's urban sprawl and usually get around 30mpg with most of it around town etc. When i do go on a run its high 30's. My wife's Scirocco 2.0TSI doesn't get anywhere close to it and considering the two cars are similar in weight and the VW engine is only a 2.0turbo and a much newer design than the BMW M54. I expected better. Does make you wonder if VW is about to be engulfed in a PETROL emissions scandal as well!

I would say that's one of the key reasons to choose a 3.0 Z4 there are plenty of comparative 2 Seater sports cars but the Z4 is probably the most economical 200BHP+ option...certainly factored in my thinking as Work mileage payments wouldn't cover my costs if it did less then 32mpg...I get a comfortable 36mpg but that's not round town

Couldn't agree more. Looking at any other sports car with 265 bhp none of them return an average of 28mpg - they are all low 20s or high teens. With the cost of fuel this is a big bonus

bet your glad you don't still work there, they have ruined it with this guided bus lane and the last 12 months have been a nightmare for folks up there with various roadworks and closures. Took one of my friends on a good number of occasions 3 hours to get to her office in trafford park!
