bmw warranty renewal query

just had the renewal for the bmw warranty on the m, 80 quid a month,20 quid a week. is this subject to main dealer servicing or is it still valid with factory trained , ex ocean indy with oem parts, have a couple of weeks to decide wether to renew. once it lapses, it lapses , easier to sell with it obviously, anyone on here with pros and cons of ideas and opinions. :driving:
 
As i read the warranty situation certain cars carry inherent faults which can cost big £££ to sort .
A decent warranty gives you peace of mind against these "known issues" . I just don't think the Z even in M form has such well known & above all costly problem's :wink:
Its insurance at the end of the day , if you want peace of mind take it out :thumbsup:
 
I can only found these terms in the current Insured Warranty T&Cs...

...but I was sure I'd seen it had reduced to a 'VAT registered garage where you had proof genuine parts were used' - or something along those lines :?

I only know of one 'Service Authorised Workshop' (i.e. no parts/sales dept) and that's Harwoods BMW in Basingstoke, I believe all other authorised workshops are part of the dealer network.
 
I don't plan to renew mine this year, £900 is a reasonable annual fighting fund and as the car gets older the more they will baulk and claim its wear and tear anyway.

The one time I needed it they couldn't diagnose the throttle sensors at fault and I ended up replacing myself and out of my own pocket.

With the initial factory warranty when bought new, the EU Block Exemption allows you to have the car serviced at any VAT registered garage using OEM parts, and your warranty remains preserved.

Once you're into a BMW insurance backed warranty (Mondial I believe) they can dictate that you have to use BMW for servicing as part of the deal.

Certainly the BMW AUC warranty is insurance backed and I'm guessing an extended warranty will be the same.
 
thanks for the info, guess i need to check with the guys wh do the servicing, they have taken a load of customers away from ocean main dealers here in cornwall but maintain a very good relationship with them,they are booked solid 3 weeks ahead, but like the warrantee states , BMW Authorised workshop, but they will know the position, guess i should call bmw too to get their angle on it. :thumbsup:
 
Mondial haven't updated their policy ts and cs yet but will confirm in writing that their warranty covers cars serviced outside the dealer network when in line with BMW recommendations and using genuine parts.

Therefore you need to ensure the Indy garage that services your car confirms on their invoice what exactly was done, that it matches the check list and includes the part numbers of each part fitted to ensure your claim isn't void.

They are very non conmittal on the phone about what is required and I suspect a lot of people will be caught out with invoices that don't go into enough detail. Not to mention the dealer isn't over eager to help when you haven't spent money with them servicing your car!
