BMW Warranty cost

Hi,

Could anyone tell me what the BMW warranty costs for the M?
Does it increase if its older or have more miles on the clock?
Can you take it out if the M doesnt have a BMW FSH or is this a must?

Anything else worth noting with the warranty that people are generally not aware of?

I think a FBMWSH is a must.

Costs vary depending on what option you go for. You can choose Comprehensive/Named Component or Driveline. Comprehensive being the dearest and Driveline the cheapest. You can also choose a level of excess too. The more excess you pay the lower the premium. Lastly you also have the option to include Roadside Assistance (BMW Assist) if you wish.

I pay monthly because they don't put the price up on you. I think if you pay annually the price rises sharply once you go above 60k miles. To give you some idea I'm paying a fraction under £90 a month for the Comprehensive option on an M with zero excess and Roadside Assistance.

You can get a quote from HERE.

It's the same rates/cover until you get beyond 60,000 miles, and then the annual premium increases and wear & tear comes into play more often. If you're already on the monthly plan BEFORE your car gets to 60,000 miles, then you stay at the same premium until you cancel.

Quotes for mine (57,000 miles, 2006 Z4MC):

The handbook detailing what is/isn't covered at each level of cover can be downloaded from HERE.

I also find the BMW Emergency Service is worth the extra £80/year as it would cost as much if you were to do it with AA/RAC/GreenFlag/ADAC if you added European cover.

There are some good break down deals around now. I have paid £48 with KwikFit which includes European. Try one of the comparison sites. The other cost of the BMW warranty is the servicing. Mine is not under warranty and the Insp 2 and an oil service have been £500 cheaper through an Indy and you couldn't do that with a warranty.

I've canceled the warranty also too much money against the value of the car. Better to spend the money saved on good maintenance and a safety fund IMHO but then my mileage is quite low.

I recently renewed mine but BMW wanted £1200 for one years cover. So after shopping around I found AA warranty give same cover for two year deal at £488 meaning saving of nearly £1000 per annum . :D

Having looked through the cover it does seem to be the same . I chose the top one they had . Think there was three levels . A friend put me onto them and he only drives porsches . Not had to claim though so that will be the test.

How much is a brand new S54 engine?
With the bits that need to be changed at the same time, you won't get much back from £14k (for all new parts, fitted at a dealer).

I priced up a 2nd hand one for a friend's e34 conversion - and we were finding them for from £1500 for a 40,000 mile engine.
