BMW waiver if you want the matte finish!!

I didn't like the look of matte finishes in the 1st place, thinking that they would also be a pain to maintain. Well, looks like BMW knows that it is in fact:

Can just imagine the paint's finish after a few years of daily driving.

I recall Lotus put a similar warning on some special editions with matte finish last year. A bit silly really, why would someone bother with it if it requires to be handled with kid gloves?

evo magazine here in the UK just took delivery of a E92 M3 and I'm 99% sure they specced this paint colour - be interesting to read how they get on with it. Long-term test cars don't usually get the best washing treatment anyway, they tend to just get driven...

As with all these things people have a choice - BMW give that choice and a relevant warning, take it or leave it. But I bet they sell out on the first production run.

Pics from another thread - I think it looks stunning

I agree that it' is a choice...but in this age of technology, moving backwards (with an automotive paint that is fragile) is going the wrong way.

Red has always been a fraglie paint (it's the softest colour pigment) but hey Ferrari manage OK. As you say it's a personal choice - and if i'ts going the wrong way then which way do you think it should go....?
