BMW UK pre warranty expire Health Check

Has anyone had one of these done? I had a call today from my local dealer reminding me that the first MOT was due. They quoted £54 which didnt seam bad, although I could probably get the mot itself cheaper. They then went on to say that they would perform a "free" health check for any warranty eligible repairs (and presumably none eligible also!). I didnt think this was a bad idea and was tempted to take it to an independant to have a look but before anyway. Does anyone know what they do? Is it just a case of kick the tyres?

I am in two minds, one part of me says its a none entity, the other says they are after grabbing the warranty repairs at their dealership to make more profit and therefore it may be worth while.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

I wonder if they check to see if a car has had much warranty work done in the three years. If not then they may see if anything is worn, leaking and place a claim to BMW for the work.
This might explain why some people seem able to get wheels etc replaced on warranty by dealers without a struggle while others have to fight for them to be done.
Still, if it costs nothing you might as well let them take a look.

While we have nothing compared to the MOT here, if anything is due such as brake fluid flush and change, when I take my car to the dealer they perform it without asking. They are very good about checking things due for the car and then just doing them. The car is still under warranty and so there is no cost to me and they get the parts and labor from BMW. When I complained about the wipers not cleaning the windshield very well, those were also replaced under warranty.

USA and UK are like Chalk and Cheese when it comes to cars, warranties and service though.

This is true... we seem to have a couple of dealers in the UK that seem to get glowing reports, but alas most of the UK reports are about dealers who suck!

Saying that, I took mine for an end of warranty check and ended up getting a spring replaced. Definitely worth getting done.

That's a good offer IMO... I paid for the BMW 1xx point inspection to check the warranty stuff a month or so before it expired. I don't recall that think they picked anything up. A few months later I thought there was an issue with the steering, I got the dealer to look at it FOC as it would have been an existing problem (warranty issue) that they should have picked up at the time
It's tenuous at best but there are grounds for compensation once the warranty expires.
