I was considering moving to a sensible option / change to a 335i m sport coupe my Z4MC has 80k full service from bmw and interim oil swaps , 13k to next oil service and 80k on his clock , they offered me 10k , reasons - people don't want big engine cars , I get that but why do they think I would pay top end for a 3 series with a similar sized engine , tell me honestly if im being mad expecting more from an M there are similar z4s on pistons not m,s for that money , all opinions welcome good or bad ! and just to let you all know im keeping him now to me if it is only worth 10k now I would rather keep and save for a 2nd than let him go for that
 
Thats not the worst trade in I've heard. There have been people offered <10k for <70k M coupe examples. Dealers are dealers. I wouldn't let it get to you.

I would keep it too! You would obviously get more for it if you sold it privately.
 
Not an expert on Z4MC prices but the Stealer will need to make profit somewhere - combined from the selling of the 335i m sport coupe and the trade-in of the Z4MC. If new car price less, give you less trade-in for your and vice versa. Did you try and get discount on the 335i m sport coupe?

I wonder what another garage might offer for the same? Or was it a brand new BMW?
 
its a 07 335i with 3 owners and only 21k which made me a bit wary as well , just surprised as last year was offered 13k obviously with about 12k less miles they said there would be little or no movement on either prices , thanks for the input guys , ive just spent 2.5k on it new tyres discs pads insp 1 road tax , so I kind of looked at it as I was offered 7.5k silly I know but :?
 
Like tomscott, I've come across a sh*tty trade-in price too in the past, at a VW Dealer. In my case (this was year and half ago though), the make of trade-in might have made a difference like if it was maybe harder for them to shift easily, or the saleman was just a poohead. :roll: In that situation though, the price of the car I was looking at buying was just sky-high in comparison to other garages if you know what I mean, so I took my business elsewhere. Well, sold mine privately (to the first person who came to view, it was a well looked after car) then bought separately. Though I can see the convenience factor of part-ex'ing.

Woah big difference in what they offered you last year. Do you remember what that was in part-ex for though?

Eeek, new tyres expensive, but bet the ride's nice :thumbsup:

Edit: sorry, I mean sh*tty trade-in price being the price of the car I was looking at buying was extortionately high and then factoring in the price they offered for my Zed(which wasn't too bad), the cost price of the deal seemed, well, sh*tty. Should've been clearer.
 
Unfortunately those costs are running costs, the next owner would have had to do those things too so would have to be reflected in the price anyway.
 
pilot sports 3s yes its great , just getting a bit , I don't know ? nervous as 13 days later xenon went ! 149 for bulb ! being honest I think although im old now it would gut me to let him go ! its the prettiest car ive ever had and so much fun , get your point tom , but im old fashioned I couldn't sell my car on knowing it wasn't how I would like to receive a car , the price last year was offered against a 635d coupe at 25k so maybe that's why ?
 
Sytner Chigwell offered £15k for mine before I bought it privately. 45k on the clock

I think some stealers are just bandits.

We've seen lunatic prices with replica wheels on AUC. I think sense has gone out the window

I was offered a strong price for my Z4MC but that was against a year old 335i @ £33.5k. I nearly did the deal but had a last minute change of heart.

Instead I bought TWO cars for LESS money than the 335i.
2 year old Lexus IS250 (technologically puts the 335i to shame).

And a Lexus SC430 with enough V8 grunt to keep me amused (it'll give the 335i a hard time).

Emailed Sytner to say I had found a Lexus and asked if they were still interested in my car. Didn't even get a reply :rofl:

I'll advertise the Z here for 8 weeks and then I'll be putting it through a classic car auction. It'll then sell at its "true price" whatever that may be.
 
I know the roadster is less sort after but I was offered 10k trade in on mine against a E92 M3 & mine only had 44k miles on it in jan 2013 at a BMW dealer which I just went with...changing cars always seems to be an expensive game.
 
Don't do it.

07 n54 engines have some issues that will leave you incredibly upset that you've 'downgraded' your car.

Stick with the M.

I have a few mates at a bmw garage and they all laughed today pointed out that it was worth more than 10k to me and why would I pay more to DOWNGRADE !!!!! I wouldn't get to hung up on the trade in value. Calculate your cost to change, this is the figure to work on. If you get a lower than expected trade in then you should be looking for discounts etc to keep that "Cost to Change" the same.
 
I get that marchantsuk , just don't like the idea of the dealer wanting the bottom price for mine the top for his and being told no movement on prices , my point in a round about way was - an m coupe ? fairly rare , might hold a bit of price ? anyway buying a runner sadly the boy will be a weekend warrior
 
I got offered 9k for my z4mr on 14000 miles by sytner against a new m135i. Needless to say I didn't sell

What discount did they offer on the M135i? I've heard there's hefty discounts available on it (hence the low trade-in price).
