BMW styling

There's been a lot said about BMWs recent car styling, in particular the Chris Bangle designed cars... including the E85/6 Z4s. So, I just thought that I'd throw this one out....

I was looking in particular at the famous 'Hofmeister Kick / Kink' - the design detail that all BMWs have had since the 1960s... where the 'C' pillar flicks back at the bottom (or 'D' pillar for Tourings and various 'X's). And I reckon that the Z4C is arguably the best-executed of all of them.

What do you all think? Lots of pics (apologies to those I've borrowed - which is all of them!)

Hope you don't mind that I used yours as the example Z4 coupe, Tom...

Tom's isn't showing... But I am beginning to like that M6, especially after seeing it in the metal this weekend. The kick on it is quite nice now you mention it. Had never noticed that detail before

You got there too quick Bing... it should be there now!!

The 'kick' is there somewhere on all of them - aside from soft tops - even the X5s and stuff. It's there (just) on the E89 too...

:D

Agree, the coupe kick looks best, probably because of the overall shape... That M6 is a close second though.

Just had a look, the Z3 coupe doesn't have it, maybe why it looks a bit un-BMW

A-ha! You're right there Bing. Good spot!

This is the mrlozzer and Bing thread right now :D

That csl at the top is gorgeous - looks very 'delicate'

Nice example on an M1 here :

God I love the old M3.
+1 on that

Seeing what a good one is worth price-wise, I'm not sure I'd love one more than an E60 M5... or a matching pair of Z4Ms though!

If I win the lottery I will be filing a big barn with all these (and many other) BMWs
I'm with you there - don't think I'd restrict myself to BMWs though, much as I like them!
