Had this car for a good 6 months 2020 Model

I had a strange message a few days ago saying that the 'Front Facing Camera is obscured' or similar

Didn't even know I had one but it looks like there is one?

Obvious question is can I use it for anything/what does it do? Would love to use as Dashcam, cant see anything in the Apps menu

Any thoughts comments appreciated

Hi Swagstaff,

I believe that’s for the car’s safety features e.g. lane assistance, road sign recognition etc. As such it’s not a camera that you’d be able to access in the ordinary sense, that’s what I think.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You should be able to link the camera straight to YouTube via the car's wifi (it's in the iDrive menu), then upload driving videos and make lots of money. Everyone on here with a G29 does it. Only works on the S-drive; the T-drive has a different system.

There is a forum member named Scubaregs who has the exact same model of car as you. He has made a mint!

This is news to me so not quite all G29 owners here! More information and explanation will be interesting re S-drive and T-drive (?) differences. Will also be interested in seeing some examples of Scudabegs work as never come across this on YouTube.

For the OP the camera is for the safety systems, road signs etc and you will get messages occasionally if the windscreen gets a smear or mark that obscures the camera.

Drove to York last week and got the same message.

The roads are filthy after the gritting and the muck gets onto the sensors at the front of the car so the parking sensors and other safety features don’t work.
