BMW Insured Warranty Question & Independant in Manchester??

Hi all...

Car went into garage for leaky headlamp washers and leaky boot on Monday...

The car is under the comprehensive BMW Insured Warranty.

They replaced a headlamp washer and charged me the £100 excess to do this, but wont fix the leaky boot... they say the warranty does not cover ANY water ingress, even if it isnt a normal boot seal that is the problem.

They said the leak is where the roof meets the rear bulkhead and it needs re-sealing (sounds like a sealant rather then an actual rubber seal). They would have charged me £660 just for labour for doing this job (taking the roof off)....

Firstly, does this sound right to anyone else with experience of the insured warranty? This is not a perishable item or wear & tear, this is some sealant on an internal joint, a joint that you cannot get to for normal maintanance or service. This seal would have been designed to never need replacing... so this is a design or build fault... surely my warranty should cover this?

can anyone with experience of these BMW insured warranty clarify this point for me???

Also, if not, I need to get this done at an independant... Anyone know of a good 1 in or around Manchester area that you would trust to take your roof off??

i'd say go back to the dealer or write to bmw as that should be covered by your warranty.

I would be going hard at the dealer/BMW, this is to do with the soft top so I believe the rules about seals don't really apply in this case.

You have paid your excess so you really need to stick with that dealer for this claim, but if they won't help contact BMW HQ in Bracknell.
