BMW electronic options programming check list

Does anyone have a copy or know how to get a copy, of the "checklist" BMW provide or use to go through how you want all your "niceties" turned on or off?

Basically I've recently picked up my Z and there are a few things I'd like reprogramming.
I've been told that BMW have a list of all the things you can turn on or off in the cars programming.
things like enabling or disabling the remote operation of the soft top, headlights remaining on for 30 seconds after you lock the car, alarm plip on of off, etc etc etc.

I know a local garage who has the machine to be able to program all this, but would like the sheet anyway to see just exactly what you can turn on or off!

Any thoughts?

:)

Think you will find it is dependant on the car and what extras you have fitted - so that's everything for you so I will shut up :D

Ha ha!
Nice one Gannet :D

Its true though, it does depend on whats fitted, and I have some things which arent being optimised.
Im pretty sure you can have the elec folding mirrors auto fold on exit of the car, but its not turned on on mine.
No point in having the feature just for the one or two occasions you need to pass a truck on a tight lane!

Would be interesting to see just what the full list of things you can do actually is!

I think mr jeeper posted one on here some time ago -have a search and see what you find 8)

The BMW list is car specific and they print it of when you take your car in and i'm pretty sure they will not activate the remote roof operation, your local indy will be your best bet. I sat with mine in the car as he went through all the options, took roughly 10 minutes. He also done a full diagnostic and the only fault code was radio temp too high. :)

I'm taking my Z to a local BMW specialist next week to get my brake fluid changed, but I'm very interested in getting a few of the electronics options programmed in at the same time if he can do it. I chatted to him today and he said that he definitely had the software to do BMW E39/E46 but wasn't sure if it would work for the Z4.
Does anyone know whether it's likely to be the same tool?
If he can, I'm thinking of getting the unlock button to open the roof and the 3x indicator flash set up, but if anyone can recommend any other options that I should get set up at the same time, I'd love to know what they are!

Currently the car seems to behave a bit strangely when I press and hold the unlock key. The windows open almost all the way (further than they normally do when I take the roof down), the roof unclips from the body but doesn't seem to open any further, and the red LED next to roof-down button flashes. It seems to be trying to open the roof, so I maybe I'm not holding it on long enough or something but I just wondered if anyone had seen this behaviour before.

Thanks,
Matt

Sounds like you arent holding it down long enough...

Z4 is based on the E46 so I think his equipment should be fine

Ive asked two Indy's.
One say they cant do it and Im waiting to hear back from the other one.
Will let you know.

They need an autologic computer.....

Where abouts are you located?

Posters are correct in that the list is governed by model, year and indeed market, but your year and model is close enough to mine to likely be the same abou tthe same.

Here's a repost of the checklist I had when my car was set up when I took it on.

Page one is for the car and the 2nd all the key specific things, so of course each key can perform differently.

I think I can explain most items if one bemuses you...

That is bloody brilliant!
exactly what I was after.
There are a few things not there I was expecting to see (remote roof operation on or off, and driver seat memory dependant on user key) but that might be visable on my car when I get the same list.

Im in Lancaster (Lancashire) un1eash.

Thanks, I'll give it another try this evening, I didn't realise that the Z4 was based on the E46 so it looks hopeful!

Abit to far from leicester then.

Seat memory will be there if you have electric seats, the lack of remote roof on the list suggests as i mentioned before bmw not willing to unlock this feature due to liability as i believe there are no load sensors on the roof if something/someone gets in the way.

Not exactly what you are looking for but it may give you some options that aren't available from a programming point of veiw.

From what I can gather you fit the appropriate module instead of the original and it does the rest.

Awesome you were right, the roof does come down if I hold the key long enough. I think the signal can easily get interrupted and that's why it didn't open all the way before, but if you repress the key it goes all the way eventually!!
Thanks!

Does anybody know of an indie in the North West who can do programming especially to allow the roof to close on the key? I've read about a place near Hull but it would be good to find someone a bit nearer.

Click on the Union Flag inbetween the German Flag & the Stars & Stripes at the top of the page and it translates the page into English, be it not everything that's in German but enough to let you know what each module does. :P :P
