BMW Dealer Service - Supplying own parts?

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of feedback from anyone that has supplied more than just oil for a main dealer service.

I'm due an Inspection 2 soon and wish to maintain full dealer history, but never happy paying through the nose for the privilege.

For my last service I supplied my own oil and this was no problem, but I've been looking at supplying my own Spark Plugs too this time. Has anyone done this without any challenge or resistance from dealer?

Can currently get 8ltrs of Edge 5W30 & 6 Bosch plugs equiv to OEM BMW part No. for £114, this compares to a quote 12 months ago for Insp 2 which had these items at £214 (for 6.5 ltrs of oil). So it's worth £100 to me if I can do both, but don't want to be landed with plugs that the dealer will not accept to use.

Thanks in advance.

It's up to the dealer whether they will or won't, so ask in advance.

Personally, if you just turned up with them and expected a 50% discount I'd tell you to do one.

I'd also be worried that anything you save on providing your own parts/fluids will be lost in extra "We've found a problem, sir!" reports.

How would you like someone coming into your shop and saying they only want to pay half price as they'll supply their own gold/silver for their cufflinks :P
