BMW clear light kit -tinting options

I have a set of these knocking about in the garage...

BMW clear light kit.... i want to tint the outsides to red .... does everyone just spray tint or could i use

the plan being to mask the centre to make taking the film off easier ..

your thoughts much appreciated .

Have used the spray before, works very well, if you colour outside the lines you can cut it back with acetone. Just lacquer when you're happy or it'll fade.

my 2 pennies : i spray tinted my 3rd brake light from clear to 'smoke black'... didnt go very well, paint was patchy, it sank into strange puddles... i was doing it in very light sprays, basically it looked sh!te. Recently bought the lamin-x film, now thats really good! its surprisingly thick, but when heated went on and stretched easily into shape. And, they posted it out the next day!

Any chance you could post up a shot of your rears with the film attached? Interested in doing this but cant help but think the film would be highly noticable.

I once spray tinted some lights that came out very well. I used the Savage brand which was MUCH better than the Foliatec stuff. I removed the lights from the car, sanded them down (very fine grade) to get rid of the raised text on them, polished them with Metallic T Cut which brought them up ultra shiny, then sprayed a few light coats – using the Met T Cut in between stages. Came out looking very OE and nice and shiny: I hate the matt, patchy look that just spraying gives you.
