BMW Car Club GB Z Register E85/E86 models

Hi all,

Not sure how many of you are BMW Car Club GB members or are aware of the Z Register? Just thought I would introduce myself as the Car Clubs E85/E86 contact for the register. Most BMW models have their own register within the car club made up of volunteers to promote that particular model. Obviously at the moment we are also doing our best to promote Zed Fest in July and get as many cars attending that as possible. If you are a member of the Car Club you can ask to be added to the Z Register and you get window sticker for your car.

As part of my role I get to field general queries, and promote the E85/E86 models as much as I can. I also get to write a monthly article in the club magazine covering whatever ramblings seem appropriate at the time. We also have a Zed Car of the Month which gets to show case your Zeds, and your thoughts on ownership. I will be trawling all the Zed forums looking for inspiration for the articles, but if you have any suggestions on what you might like to see featured in the club magazine please let me know.

Cheers, Gary

so how do we register and does it cost?
It's part of the car club membership, so you can call or email the club office if your a member... Otherwise if you join, you ask to be added.

I think Gaz is referring to UK BMWCC
Ooops, my bad... International forum fail! I've corrected the thread title and made it a little more obvious it's the GB Car Club

I would be surprised if US BMW CC doesn't also have a register for Z ,or you could suggest starting one
Check the US club magazine, in UK there are several registers
IIRC ie 2002/ E30/ et al

Do Z4M owners join the Z Register, the M Power register or both?

And what does membership of the register actually mean? I've been a member of the M Power register for a number of years (used to have an E34 M5 before the E39 and E85), but haven't found that it actually does anything.

I started the Carrera 3.2 register for PCGB, and we used to have special 3.2 events, parked together at PCGB events, had a regular column in the club magazine, etc. It was a bit like a club within a club. (Then the internet came along and made car clubs a lot less relevant. When I had a 928 S4, the 928 UK forum was far more active in supporting owners ad organising 928-related events than PCGB ever was.)

I get your point ZedFourM, the internet certainly has changed the way clubs integrate with members. It's also useful to remember that a lot of car owners aren't involved (or in fact interested) in internet forums at all. I've had quite a lot of contact from people directly after articles go in the club magazine who don't use forums.

As for which you join (Z or M register) I've not been asked that before, so I'll find out. I would imagine there are no issues with being in both...

I've only just joined the Z register team, but the guy who is in overall charge of it (Ian) is putting in a huge amount of effort to try and make it more active. That's why I'm here as well

Could some body give me some advice? I am thinking of joining the BMW car club but I am trying to convince myself if it worth it. Do you have a lot of meets during the year and is there a good benefit to being apart of the club? I mean I am not new to BMW as brand on my 3rd and my dads always had them but the first time thinking of joining the club and wanting to be around others who have a real passion for the cars. So if you can help me convince myself to join that will be great.
Regards Jon
